Happy Valentine's 2011 Newsletter

The most challenging issue we all face, today, is finances. Each of us is forced to be creative when it comes to how we spend our time and money. There is a rumor that money is drying up but I say it hasn't gone anywhere. It's just how we perform to get paid and what we do with the money when we get it. Now, many may think that the cause to support women musicians is whimsical. However, think about spending one day without hearing music. Now, think about a world where there is no music from women. THAT'S what we're about. Keeping the music of women in your ears. Dues are due. Thanks to those of you that paid your dues. To those who can pay, please do because without your dues, this organization cannot function. Please click here and pay your dues, today. Then, ask a friend to join us. Thanks so much.

March 12th marks our 4th year of presenting music performances by women, men and students to the community-at-large, through grants from Broward County Cultural Division, Broward Schools, the Cities of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderhill and Miami Beach.

WHAT WE DO: [See HERSTORY and JAZZWOMEN DIRECTORY]

Besides increasing our membership of musicians and supporters, we continue to submit grant applications for performance funding. In January, we will present COMMUNITY MUSICWOMEN at four senior centers in Miami Beach, through a grant from Miami Beach Gala Grants.

Next, we are creating an atmosphere where people can enjoy good music and company at the MUSIC LOVER'S LOUNGE. The first one is on March 12, 2011.

We'll embark upon a EuroTour for Peace in June-July 2011. We're offering a great opportunity to one or more corporate sponsors, who are looking for visibility in Europe for their business. We will take a banner with us with our logo and the logos of our underwriters who provide us with a tax-deductible contribution of $10k-$100,000 for travel expense funding.

HOW UNDERWRITERS CAN HELP:

Every time we are on stage, radio, television or reviewed in a newspaper, our underwriters will be mentioned and the banner will be displayed. A corporation could not purchase international advertisement of this grandeur for less than the sponsorship we are seeking.

The return on this investment cannot be determined, since the publicity needs of corporations interested in underwriting this venture are not known at this time. However, this should be considered a huge opportunity for any corporation looking to get their branding into international business circles.

EUROTOUR FOR PEACE June 23-July 23, 2011:

  1. Rome, Italy with a delegation of municipal officers from the City of Lauderhill that is twinning with Fiuggi, Italy.
  2. Montreux, Switzerland, where we will visit the Montreux Music Festival
  3. Copenhagen, Denmark
  4. Stockholm, Sweden
  5. Cardiff, Wales
  6. Belfast, Ireland

Our goal is to perform original music in each of these cities with the expectation of being paid for each concert in order to build up our touring fund for future tours.

Please let us know if there are any investors interested in supporting women's music on this international tour. The artists slated to travel with us are on our MISSION page.

We look forward to identifying the corporations that will take advantage of this great opportunity to expose their products and/or services to the international community through this sponsorship of our EuroTour for Peace 2011.

If you or any of your colleagues need more information, don't hesitate to contact me. Next Meeting: Friday, February 4, 2011 @ 6:30 p.m. Please RSVP for location.

Thank you,
