WHO ARE YOU?

December is Rising Star and Universal Human Rights Month

The highlight of November was receiving the Spirit of Excellence Music Leader of the Year Award from the American Business Women's Association of South Broward! As founder and Executive Director of WIJSF, it has been my pleasure to identify, interview, archive and produce in concert and on CD several women musicians, composers, vocalists and educators.  We thank Broward Schools SEAS Program, BankAtlantic, Arts4Learning, Broward Cultural Division, the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderhill and Miami Beach for funding for our programs including Community Musicwomen, Jamaica Hill Jazz Jam, Lauderhill Jazz Jam and the Lauderhill Jazz Series. Next, we welcome our new National President Christine Vitolo, Esquire, who has been a tremendous supporter of WIJSF since its inception. Now, we have an International President and a National President! Let the games begin!

NEW CD RELEASE

Jus' Cynthia's new CD Thailand Blues  was recorded live in Bangkok at the Bamboo Bar in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, earlier this year. The combination of an African American singer, a Russian band, a multi-cultural audience and a Thai setting makes for a pleasing product worth having. Also, coming in Spring 2012, is the musical Their Story Is Our Story, based on Jus' Cynthia's historical documentary Promises From The Palmetto Bush - The Genesis of Carver Ranches, Florida.  You'll be educated, enlightened and entertained by this drama spiced with comedy.
